Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher - Long Term Substitute Preschool - Position is open for any licensure in Special Education

General Definition of Work:
The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher provides direct services to early childhood special education students. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the building principal, special education building level coordinator, and the Special Education Director.

Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Functions:
Plans and implements educational services;
Conducts appropriate interventions and assists parent’s in-home facilitation;
Provides comprehensive developmental evaluation and/or screening for children referred for services;
Provide guidance and lead paraprofessional in setting up the room for activities, monitoring play and learning activities, and implementing plans;
Communicates with district administrative staff and other district staff as appropriate about students served, progress and emerging issues;
Communicates with outside agencies and collaborative services for children, as appropriate and on an individual basis;
Serve as a liaison between families, school and community agencies;
Facilitates a transition plan to preschool when child is ready;
Conducts and maintains appropriate due process documentation related to screening, evaluations, and services for young children with disabilities;
Adheres to all due process procedures and compliance requirements;
Attend training sessions, conferences, seminars, district and departmental meetings;
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
Follows all policies and regulations;
Regular and prompt attendance is essential;
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher;
Thorough knowledge of due process procedures unique to the Birth to 3 years old population (Part C) and for the 3 to 7 year old population (Part B) and the differences of those age groups;
Thorough knowledge of best practices for children with disabilities, ages Birth to 7 years;
General knowledge of special education practices and procedures;
Ability to demonstrate confidentiality;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, administrators, and outside agencies;
Ability to handle a variety of assignments or problems independently;
Ability to apply a variety of procedures and policies;
Ability to collect, read, summarize, compare, and apply data;
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, school staff, administrators, and other agencies;
Ability to present to small groups and large groups;
Ability to write clearly and concisely;
Ability to use modern office equipment, technology, and related software.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in Early Childhood Special Education, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minnesota teaching licensure in Early Childhood Special Education issued by PELSB.

Physical Requirements:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing and using hands to handle or feel and occasionally requires walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using of measuring devices and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Special Requirements:
Driver’s License Required

Pay: $263.25/day
