County Agency Social Worker-Mental Health Outreach/Early Intervention

The Goodhue County Social Services Department is seeking qualified applicants for the County Agency Social Worker-Mental Health Outreach/Early Intervention position.

Kinds of Work:
Under general supervision, provides early intervention through outreach to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.

Examples of Work:
 Provides outreach to individuals experiencing mental health crises in hope of preventing further
deterioration of symptoms
 Assists individuals with accessing the correct level of care, thus reducing the need for higher acuity care
 Connects and supports individuals in accessing area resources to meet identified needs
 Ensures coordination of client mental health services
 Provides time-limited stabilization and case management services to ensure appropriate services are in place to meet identified needs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 Knowledge of the principles and techniques of interviewing and engagement
 Knowledge of social casework objectives, principles and methods
 Knowledge of crisis de-escalation skills
 Knowledge of community resources
 Knowledge of psychology/mental health/substance use
 Ability to work well in multidisciplinary team.
 Ability to work constructively in the development and coordination of community resources to meet special needs.
 Ability to manage time productively and prioritize tasks.
 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or closely related field.

The pay range is $33.48/hr. Full time: 40 hours/week. The County's comprehensive benefit package includes medical and dental insurance, health savings account, employer paid life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, retirement plan, tax-deferred
compensation, generous vacation and sick leave and 13 paid holidays per year.  County employees are eligible for the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
