The Office for Multicultural Programs provides the necessary support and educational experiences to enhance the learning process that helps students, faculty, staff, and administrators obtain a global perspective, appreciate diverse and multicultural students, serve the community, and ultimately assist students in succeeding in their academic and career goals.

The Director for Multicultural Programs is responsible for coordinating efforts to foster an inclusive campus community that attracts, respects, and supports inclusion in multiple forms. The Director is responsible for the design, oversight, and planning of related programs, workshops, and training sessions that promote the institution's goals and values. The Director will be responsible for actively participating in the Department for Student Affairs and collaborating with students, faculty, staff, and administrators on the implementation of initiatives that support and further an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students. The Director will work in partnership with the campus community in addressing issues related to under-represented and international students. The successful candidate must have the ability to work occasional flexible hours, evenings or weekends as needed, to support student programming and events.

Develops programs and strategies that promote multiculturalism and inclusion that enrich the living and learning experiences for all students.
Plans and orchestrates multicultural programming and education through events such as welcome week, themed months or weeks, marketing and communications, and other additional opportunities.
Creates and facilitates opportunities to integrate multiculturalism and service into student leadership and service experiences in the classroom.
May act as a mentor/coach for student leaders on multicultural and international student issues.
Responsible for updating and maintaining the external and internal multicultural website pages, to include making every effort to provide universally accessible content.
Oversees the campus food pantry.
Serves as Chair for the Multicultural Committee, a campus-wide committee consisting of faculty, staff, and students charged with facilitating curricular and co-curricular programming and making recommendations to the University President and Senior Staff on all aspects of multicultural issues.
Coordinates the Cultural Diversity Tuition Waivers Committee, responsible for managing university multicultural and international tuition waiver processes.
Coordinates international student activities on campus.
Works with members of the Department of Student Affairs to ensure diversity training is embedded in training programs for students (i.e. Viking Voyage Welcome Weekend; RA training, student employment training, etc.)


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 5 or more years of related work experience OR a Master's degree with 3 or more years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of student development theory, student services best practices, and assessment practices relevant to higher education
Experience advising or developing culturally responsive resources for individuals from historically underrepresented or marginalized backgrounds.
Experience facilitating workshops and discussions about topics in equity and inclusion.
Experience in providing direct services to historically underrepresented youth and young adults in a rural environment.
Experience advising student organizations and event planning.

Compensation:
$55,000-$59,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
