Minnehaha County is accepting applications for a Commission Administrative Officer to directly support the Board of County Commissioners in the administration of
Minnehaha County government.
What You Need To Succeed In This Role:
The successful candidate will be a transformational leader committed to the continuous improvement of government operations and the services we provide to our growing community. A bachelor's degree in public or business administration, or closely related field, plus seven years of increasingly responsible experience in public administration, or closely related field is required. Demonstrated leadership, public sector finance knowledge, project managment experience and an MBA or JD is preferred.
The ideal candidate demonstrates advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and related productivity tools and communicates effectively in both verbal and written forms. The candidate consistently builds and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with collegaues, partner agencies, and the public and maintains a professional presence interacting with others in a respectful, approachable manner.
This role requires thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, applicable state laws and regulations, and the organization, functions, and interdependencies of County departments. The successful candidate is skilled in administering, planning, and directing complex administrative functions and is well-versed in County budget processes, including revenue sources, statutory requirements, fund balances, and general accounting practices and principles.
The candidate also demonstrates strong command of state procurement and bid laws; County policy; and the preparation, review and negotiation of contract documents. They are proficient with rules, procedures, and processes of state legislative sessions and can effectively communicate policy recommendations to state lawmakers, lobbyist organizations, and state agency personnel. Finally, the candidate has proven ability to train and supervise staff and to interpret and explain County policy and regulations.

Hiring range is $5,952 - $6,561 biweekly with a full earning potential of $8,394 biweekly.
