Are you looking to take the next step in your career? Virginia Public Utilities, based in beautiful northern Minnesota, is searching for qualified candidates for the position of Accounting Supervisor.

The responsibilities for the Accounting Supervisor include:
* Overseeing the Customer Service and Billing Specialists, as well as Meter Readers to ensure efficiency and excellent service standards.
* Maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and governmental regulations within all supervisory domains.
* Participating in the preparation of vital financial reports and documents that lay the groundwork for financial objectives, strategic action plans, budget development, and rates establishment.
* Responsible for creating or assisting in the development of comprehensive financial reports, including monthly performance summaries.
* Assisting in the implementation of cost control strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
* Engaging in financial analysis and support for special projects as required by the department.
* Acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the various computer systems the Utility operates, along with relevant software for financial reporting, while providing necessary training to staff.
* Establishing written policies and procedures that govern operational responsibilities.
* Collaborating with the Supervisor of Public Relations and Customer Service to troubleshoot customer-related issues.
* Managing payroll processing and ensuring timely reporting of all related documents.
* Acting as departmental representation during initial grievance procedures pertinent to the areas managed.
* Ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations pertinent to the role.
* Performing other duties as assigned by management.

Work Schedule: Predominantly a day shift with the flexibility to occasionally cover holidays or weekends as necessary, including emergency response duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
* A Bachelor's degree or equivalent training in a relevant discipline, along with at least three (3) years of experience in an office environment.
* Ability to follow detailed verbal and written directives is essential.
* Competency with computers, calculators, and related office technology, demonstrating efficiency with spreadsheet software such as Excel.
* Skills in calculating discounts, inventory metrics, and other financial data are essential.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the department’s accounting codes is required.
* Aptitude for identifying issues, collecting data, and deriving valid conclusions based on established facts.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fostering good relationships at all organizational levels.
* Ability to interact with customers with respect and professionalism.
* A neat and presentable professional appearance is necessary.
* A strong motivational drive to ascend to higher roles within the organization.
* This position is classified as a salaried/exempt position

Physical Requirements:
* Must regularly use hands for operations; ability to reach as needed.
* Capability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and vendors is essential.
* Positions may require frequent sitting with occasional walking, standing, and bending.
* Must occasionally lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds.
* Visual requirements include the ability to see close up, far away, and in peripheral vision.

Work Environment:
* Typically works indoors in an office environment.
* Noise levels are generally quiet to moderate.

Salary range (will commensurate with experience): $68,000 - $81,000 per year.
