POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position collects, updates, and analyzes electric, water, and fiber Geographic Information System (GIS) information; assists with updating GIS applications and mobile devices that use GIS maps; and assists with the maintenance of facility asset data.
JOB DUTIES OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Collects, updates, and analyzes electric, water, and fiber GIS information.
· Prepares and updates electric, water, and fiber reports and maps.
· Performs Global Positioning System (GPS) collection of electric, water, and fiber infrastructure data in the field, and updates GIS maps and databases with collected data.
· Provides GIS technical support for the collection of GIS data and the use of web mapping applications.
· Assists with the verification of field crew map updates.
· Follows quality assurance/quality control guidelines to ensure the integrity of the data.
· Assists with the maintenance of Moorhead Public Service’s (MPS’) facility asset data, tracking asset history, maintenance inspection records, and other related data.
· Assists with updating GIS applications and mobile devices that use GIS maps.
· Utilizes Esri, GIS, and CAD software, Portal for ArcGIS, GPS equipment, mobile applications, and hardware.
· Performs other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience, and training required.
Education:
Associate’s or technical degree with coursework in GIS or related geoscience-based discipline (e.g., engineering, geology, environmental, civil), with an emphasis in GIS or equivalent work experience and certifications as determined by MPS.
Experience:
· Experience with GIS software including, but not limited to, Esri’s ArcGIS Enterprise.
· Fundamental knowledge of the principles of GPS field data collection and the use of GPS data collectors and electronic mobile devices.
Training, Certificates, Licenses, and Other Requirements:
· Driver’s license valid in the state of Minnesota.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience, and training preferred in order to exceptionally perform all of the functions of this position.
Education: Proficient in GIS software including, but not limited to, Esri’s ArcGIS Enterprise. Knowledge of the principles of surveying and experience with GPS field data collection, and the use of GPS data collectors and electronic mobile devices. Bachelor’s degree in a geoscience-based discipline (e.g. engineering, geology, environmental, civil), with an emphasis in GIS.
Experience: One (1) year of utility GIS-related experience.
Training, Certificates, Licenses: GIS Certificate (GISC).
COMPLEXITY: While performing the normal duties of this job, there are related steps, processes, and methods

RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervision: General supervision is provided while performing the normal duties of this job. This position exhibits no supervisory responsibilities but may coordinate work with other individuals as a team member.

motions.
· Will use close vision, far vision, depth perception, visual acuteness, color vision, and peripheral vision.

· Will use right foot for repetitive motions.
Work Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, this position will experience exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions.
WAGE AND APPLICATION INFORMATION:
The 2025 wage for this position ranges from $
23.13 to $
35.59 per hour.
